Estimating tummy tuck prices is not an easy thing to do, but the following should give you a ballpark figure which you can expect to pay when getting this surgery. The lure of modern medicine is so great. It can do so many things: it can make you thinner without putting you on a diet or exercise regimen. But alas, it is very costly. This pricing is what often ends up being the deciding factor for so many people when they are deciding whether or not to go through with their desire to have a tummy tuck surgery.

While most people consider tummy tuck surgery to make their stomach more slender, some also consider it to remove stretch marks in the abdominal area.

Many things must be taken into consideration when you're looking at tummy tuck pricing: insurance, where to get the procedure done, and a host of other concerns. Also, the statistics are not all that clear, but we can at least extrapolate an average cost of tummy tucks around the country, based on data that has been gathered by various sources at different times.

The most important factor impacting tummy tuck prices is the fact that it is almost always considered an elective surgery by any medical insurance company. Now this obviously means that the price immediately skyrockets. Without the cushion of medical insurance, this becomes an expensive surgery like so many other “cosmetic” procedures being administered at a rapid pace all across the nation and world.

In 2003 a study was done which indicated that tummy tuck prices average about $4,600. That number will appear high to some, reasonable to others, and as just no big deal to the wealthier crowd.

But wait, there’s a catch: $4,600 is just the price of the surgery alone. There are unfortunately other costs associated with getting a tummy tuck. If you have to be hospitalized for the cosmetic surgery that is going to be another rather expensive cost tacked on top. And as we all know, there may be fees for using the operating room, anesthesiology costs, follow up care, etc.

The range of possible total costs for a tummy tuck is anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000. Hopefully as time marches on and as the medicine involved evolves, these prices will come down. Until then, you will know at least what to expect.

Now some people have actually elected to go out of the country to get their surgery. I am no expert on this, but I would suggest to be very careful and make sure you are very aware of what you’re getting into if you go this route in an effort to save some money.

Finally, you might be able to save some money just by traveling around to different parts of the United States. (If that is where you are located.) On average, tummy tuck prices are cheaper in the Southwest than in the Northeast. In fact, one study indicated that there was about a $1,500 difference on average. That is not chump change, but you have to ask yourself is it really worth it once you factor in the airfare and the inconvenience of having to have a major medical event happen so far away from home.
